Library Card Registration Adults - photo identification with current street address and completed registration card. Children [ages 6-13] - accompanied by parent or legal guardian who is Library cardholder in good standing, and completed registration signed by parent or legal guardian. Teens [ages 14-17] - photo identification with current street address and completed registration card. Parent signature no longer required, however, parents are required to sign Internet use policy for Teens. Visitors [visiting 1 to 3 months] - temporary address, photo identification with a valid current street address, completed registration, and $10.00 security deposit. Library Cards are free for persons residing outside Alleghany County who own and operate a business within the corporate limits of the Town of Clifton Forge, and their employees residing outside Alleghany County. Persons with a permanent address outside Alleghany County [who do not meet the qualifications above] may obtain a Library Card by paying a non-resident fee of $10.00 per year. Non-resident students meeting the same qualifications may obtain a Library card by paying a non-resident fee of $5.00 per year. Replacement cards are $2.00 each. Library patrons may check out up to 10 items at one time, but have no more than 20 items on their account at one time. Temporary Card holders may check out a maximum of 5 items. New Books & Audio Books [yellow tape on spine] - 2 weeks, no renewals. Books - 2 weeks, 2 renewals, if not on hold for another patron. Audio Books - 2 weeks, 2 renewals. Videos/DVDs - 1 week, no renewals. Limit 5 videos. Music CD - 1 week, no renewals. Limit 5 music CDs. Periodicals [magazines, newspapers] do not circulate. Reference materials do not circulate. Items may be renewed in person, by telephone, or by Internet accessto personal Library Account. Patrons are responsible for renewing or requesting renewal of items checked out. Items on hold for another patron may not be renewed. Fines and Fees Overdue items - $.10 per day per item up to $5.00. Reserving Items Holds may be placed in person, by telephone, or by Internet access toLibrary Account. Patrons are notified when items are available. The PAC provides patron access to the collection by author,title, and subject. Six Internet accessible computers are available for patron use. Clifton Forge, Covington, and Alleghany County residents need Library card and signed Internet Acceptable Use form. Visitors to the area must present picture ID and sign the Internet Acceptable Use form. Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) is available for patrons and visitors. Username and password are provided.Word Processing computers [2] available with color printer. Microfilm Reader available with printer Group Meetings The Library encourages the public to use the Michael Armstrong Community Room. Space is available for group meetings. Please contact the Director’s office for a copy of the room's Acceptable Use Policy, and to schedule the room.
